Natural Heritage Areas
Natural Heritage Areas (NHAs) are sites that have been identified as areas that support rare plants or animals, exemplary ecological communities, and Pennsylvania’s native species biodiversity. PNHP inventories and reports the critical biological resources found within each NHA and throughout each county in Pennsylvania.
Locations of all NHAs and their site descriptions are viewable in the Conservation Explorer Map by turning on the “Natural Heritage Area: Core Habitat” layer. A list of the NHAs and site descriptions is available here.
